Supplemental

Well, my campaign is in hiatus for the moment, but not for much longer.

Saturday, 18 July, is when my game starts back up.  What will happen is that everyone ages one year (new year: 045-1249) and will be in The Spinward Marches Sector.  The adventures will continue then.

Until then, let me recap the last two sessions we had a few months ago.  A full-scale war has erupted between the two Aslan clans of Aosiha and the nearly-extinct Eakhtiyho.  The Eakhtiyho tried to use the human crew of the Kronos as pawns in key terrorist operations on the Aosiha homeworld of Htoihfui(1339 Trojan Reach).  The PC's survived the attacks upon their persons, their ship, and the main starport.  They even were witnesses to a grand council that declared total war upon the dishonorable Eakhtiyho Remnant.  The PC's and their ship have been transported back to the J-5 cruiser and jumped toward the sector core.

On the way, they passed a deralict space station during gas giant refueling.  There were minute energy readings in the station and the PC's volunteered to investigate (thereby makibng me revive one of my favorite adventure themes given to me by Arthur C. Clarke: Rendezvous With Rama - Style).

While they were investigating the station, they came across the energy readings: a cloning room.

In the room was an array of cryogenic tubes.  The fact that the tubes contained identical clone models was interesting enough; what made it an eye-popper is that the particular clone was of Captain Duncan's dead wife: Jessica Sturm.

Most of the cloned bodies didn't survive, but one tube did.  The PC's revived the clone and found that she had the memories of the original Jessica up to the year 1124.  Duncan remembered that he and his wife got life insurance (a T5 term for getting your DNA and your memories copied down for backups) back in 1124 - before the wormhole and the catastrophe that befelled Known Space from 1130 - 1201.  Duncan saw his wife die.  This revival was particularly disturbing for him.  He doesn't know how to handle the situation.  Then again, neither does Jessica Mark 2.

The reason for the growing of the clones are a mystery.  The local station's computer network was wiped.  Some fragments of data remained, but the erasing was fairly thourough.  This is a mystery that the PC's - especially Duncan and Jessica - want to solve.  Maybe their answer is in the Spinward Marches.........

013-1248

Well, the characters successfully jumped to the Gikarlum system (2234 Trojan Reach) and practically right into battle between an aged Vampire Fleet and an Aslan Border Patrol.  The Vampire ships were old and easily outmatched by the Aslan.  They couldn't do much when the Aslan hailed their vessel, telling them to prepare for boarders; their ship was unarmed and running on duct tape and a prayer (remember it was salvaged).

The crew of the Kronos (what they were christening their "new" vessel) was boarded by a team of 8 male warriors and one female negotiator.  The female immediately  made her way to the bridge and checked to see if their network was infected.  When she found out it wasn't, she ordered the males to stand down.  Duncan - who was elected captain by the others - informed her that they had something valuable to trade with them.  Duncan convinced her to transfer them to the mother ship - a battlecruiser.

The players met with the Admiral and, with the help of the Admiral's female staff, negotiate a deal: assistance for them in exchange for the secret world.

Their ship is in the cruiser's repair bay getting refitted.  The cruiser is jumping back to their home system (Htoihfui - 1339 Trojan Reach) - the homeworld of their clan:  Aosiha.

They're in jumpspace...heading into the heart of the New Aslan Hierate....

Campaign Begins 001-1248

Well, It looks like things are going smoothly.......

A passenger liner, which was converted to a troop transport, was carrying two rather important characters: Zuel Oerzunourrungtsarrogh and Connor McHenry.

Zuel is a Vargr who comes from Zila (2908 Spinward Marches) - an independent agricultural world. He spent most of his time aboard ships as a Belter. He joined the Alliance Fleet against the Dominate in 1243 and served to the end in late 1247. His actions at the Battle of Gateway earned him an SEH - a great boost to his charisma.

Connor McHenry (A.K.A. Tex) is a Human from Persephone (2228 Spinward Marches) - a world in the Imperial Regency. He is a 20-year veteran of the IR Marine Corps. His actions at the Battle for Capitol got him an MCUF and he was preparing to return home a retired Sergeant Major.

During the trip, however, the vessel was struck by a sleeper missile - a forgotten relic of the war - just as it was entering JumpSpace. The missile took out most of the starbord side of the vessel and misjump occurred.

Things didn't look too good for the two. They seemed to be the only survivors of the catastrophe. The pair spent 18 days in jumpspace - surviving on minimal power and emergency rations. It wasn't much better when they emerged, however. The ship was on a collision course with a terrestrial world.

They didn't think too hard. They prepped a 10-ton launch and ejected as quickly as they could. Zuel tried to use his Astrogation skill to help Tex - who had some Small Craft skill - land the launch without killing themselves. They made it to the surface intact - almost.

When they came to, they found the launched buried. It wasn't too hard to dig their way out to find they were on a beach on a life-bearing world. They got what supplies they could from the launch before it sank into an air pocket.

The two traveled north along the beach for a bit. They found, to their surprise, an abandoned base.

The base seemed to be stripped - almost. They found a nearly-intact 200 ton Far Trader (Manta-Class) in a hangar, along with two bodies. One was human, the other seemed to be a modified maintenance robot. They apparently destroyed each other. Tex examined the robot, and his suspicions were confirmed - the robot was viral-infected.

That put the two of them on full alert when they entered the ship. They explored the ship and found evidence of a skirmish on the upper deck. There were more human and robotic bodies to be found. The ship looked like it hadn't been there for very long. Evidence showed it landed long after this base was abandoned.

When Zuel made it to the bridge, he found the Captain's body in a death struggle with a totaled utility robot. The Captain's Log was on a flash chip, clutched by his cold dead fingers. Zuel pried the chip away and plugged it into his hand computer (which was virus-protected, of course...) and read the log and the Captain's final words.

Apparently, the crew of this ship, the Felix, obtained stellar data that revealed this hidden system: Calibration Point Charlie. Its coordinates are 2435 Trojan Reach. This address is blank and in riftspace on normal charts. This world, apparently, was used as a launch point against viral fleets trying to break into former Regency Space. What is interesting is that most of these calibration points are built on either rock worlds or as stations around brown dwarfs - not garden worlds. This calibration point has a lot more questions to be answered - assuming the players want to ask them.

The pair also found other discoveries: two people in cold sleep. Apparently someone put these two in the freezers and plugged a small, portable fusion powerplant that was plumbed into the ship's main fuel tank. One berth, holding a Human female, had data indicating that it had been operational for about 70 days. The other, holding a Human male, read 45 years. Tex,being a qualified Medic, began the revival procedures. It was found that the female was badly injured before being placed into low berth. Tex quickly stabilized her as she was revived. After this, the two seemed to be reviving in a stable situation.

Unbeknown to Zuel and Tex, the female, by the name of Dr. Tli Zhdaqrzhadl M.D., was a professional Zhodani telepath as well as a Medical Doctor. While the two were being revived, she communicated with the reviving male, a man by the name of Duncan Idaho. Duncan was not doing too well while thawing out; his memories of his past before he was frozen was giving him one hell of a nightmare. She tried to calm his mind down for a smooth transition out of frozen sleep. The two woke up weak but functional.

The next three days were spent getting everyone to know each other as well as trying to patch up the ship as good as they could. In the end, they had everything working but the jump drive. Their lanthanum coil was busted and a new one was needed. They decided to take off after refueling the ship from the world's oceans.

In low orbit around the planet, an old 3rd Imperial capital ship was discovered. Duncan recognized it as the ship that he was on 45 years ago when he was captured by this vessel, which was a vampire ship, and enslaved as one of its Human crew. He was put into low berth to be thawed out as needed by the viral entity controlling the ship. He is still unsure how he got transfered to the Far Trader and made it planetside, and Tli isn't talking about it at this time.

The group docked with the vessel cautiously. The ship seemed to be powered down, but you never know. They entered the vessel as prepared as they could with the few weapons they had....

...They found no opposition; the ship was dead. Plenty of bodies of people and machines indicated a mutiny. Everyone was dead or deactivated.

Not too much remained on the vessel that was good to use. The equipment was either destroyed or infected. One thing they did find, though, a fully-intact lanthanum coil!

The coil was brought, very carefully, to their ship. Now they have the means to leave this system. Hopefully soon, they can find a dry dock.....

First Session

We had our first session this past weekend. We created most of the characters and one a few days later. Another will be joining up next week.

The weekend after the American Thanksgiving holiday will hold our first "real" session. I will be posting synopsis of the campaign on this blog as it goes on. I hope to have more to post by then.

Just A Reminder....

....That I am a member of the T5 Inner Circle.

Yes, I am, among others, working on T5.  There are people working on it and I am one of them.

For those who wish for me to keep quiet about this: Piss Off!!  As long as I don't actually post rules nor pass disinformation about T5, I am doing NOTHING WRONG BY ADMITTING THIS.

Just in case you haven't read the previous paragraphs, I am a member of the T5 Development Team.

Thank you for playing the Home Game...

Campaign Start

I hope to get the first game session running around the weekend of Nov 1.  That is the first weekend I will have free in a while.  I will be between performances for one of my acting gigs so I will be available.

We should, at least, get chargen completely done.  After that, it's on with the campaign!!

The Status of 1248....

Well, in case you haven't heard, Avenger Enterprises' 1248 campaign setting is going into hiatus.

Mongoose Publishing has the exclusive rights to the OTU (Official Traveller Universe) at this time. Avenger Enterprises is allowed to do OTU work as well (the only other company) but only at to the tune of Mongoose Publishing's music. Right now, the tune is the 1105 campaign setting.

What does this mean to my campaign? Not much. I still fully plan to run a 1248 campaign. Even though AE will soon cease to publish and sell 1248 material it does NOT mean the works are invalid. The 1248 setting is recognized by Marc W. Miller - the owner of the whole Traveller shebang. Even though MGP has the license for the OTU, they aren't the full owners.

I am hoping that MGP will eventually allow AE to restart their 1248 stuff. There are quite a few authors upset about this. Their stuff will, hopefully, be put on their private websites.

As for myself, I will keep track of what I develop in my 1248 campaign. Who knows? Maybe, some time from now, I will publish my own 1248 work through AE - once they get permission from MGP to publish these works again.
